We encourage papers that address the conference theme. Topics of interest to the conference include, but are not limited to:
Impact of militarization on political and public discourse
Militarization and security of minority citizens
Armed conflict and civilian protection
Global food crisis
Shifting perceptions of (human) security
Health and well-being
Human security and dignity
Human security in the Risk society
Theoretical and empirical studies on human security
How to Apply
Please send abstracts (250 words max.) with necessary information (your name, affiliation, current position, e-mail, the presentation title, and the keywords) to the following e-mail address by August 10th, 2022.

The Conference Organizing Committee will examine the submitted proposal. Accepted papers will be notified by August 27th. The presenter is requested to submit the paper (approx. 4,000 words) or resume/extend abstracts (approx. 1,000 words) for commentators and panel chairs by October 15th. Please note that prospective presenters need to be members of the JAHSS.

Conference Information
Dates:
The two-day conference will be held on November 5th (Saturday) and 6th (Sunday), 2022. The academic presentations (parallel sessions) will take place on the first day starting at 1:30 PM. On the second day, we will have a plenary session.
Venue:
The conference will be held on campus at Reitaku University, Kashiwa, Chiba. However, online presentations are also available. Information on the access to the university and how to participate online will be provided at a later date.

In principle, we will hold this year’s conference in person. However, only those who are participating abroad / cannot attend the venue in person may join online
The conference program will be released by the end of September.
Fees:
Member (including student members): ¥1,000 Non-member: ¥2,000
Coming to the venue is recommended for full participation.
Non-presenters’ online participation is free but limited: viewing presentations via Zoom only. Due to facility and equipment limitations, they will not be able to participate in the Q&A sessions.
